Last Friday night, the Lady Elks Varsity kicked off the 2022 season with their annual Friday Night Futbol match against the Alter Lady Knights. A packed house at Alumni Stadium watched Centerville earn a decisive 4-0 victory. After a tight back and forth battle in the first half, Ava Pfarrer provided pressure on a through ball to beat the advancing Alter goalie and net the first goal for the Elks. Things opened up in the second half with more dominating play and a flurry of goals. Off an aggressive run and pass from Taylor Koch, Savannah Conner scored a beautiful top corner shot to put Centerville ahead 2-0. Alexia Peterson scored a header goal for the Elks off a corner kick from Mia Robillard. The final goal of the evening came off great combination play starting with a nice through ball to Taylor Koch, who beat the advancing Alter keeper and found Morgan Spitler alone in front of the goal to make it 4-0. Brooklyn Larrymore, Charlotte Kunst, Jess Wiedemann, Cami Staudt, and Mia Robillard shut down the Alter attack all evening and goalie Emma Gramke made numerous clutch saves to ensure the shutout victory.

The Lady Elks JVA team started their season in strong fashion with a 3-1 win over Alter. Bella Ferrazza started the scoring off a corner kick from Samantha Touhey. Jilly Wisecup followed up with a goal from a great cross from Bella Ferrazza. Lauren Jessup-Aiken and Ella Stevens provided great offensive pressure, and Maya Mercado, Kayla McCall-Williams, Ella Boettcher and Skylar Falkner combined to control the midfield. In the second half Anna Kate Robillard scored off another assist by Bella Ferrazza. Khloe Issacs, Katie Gearhart, Peyton Speakes, and Alexis Markowski provided excellent defense all game, while Morgan Franklin and Megan Reichart combined in goal for the victory.

On Saturday, all three Lady Elk soccer teams are in action as we host Dublin Coffman at home for games at 9:30 (JVB), 11 am (JVA) and 1 pm (Varsity). Go Elks!
