Girls Softball Closes In On GWOC Title

The Varsity Softball team showcased their resilience and teamwork in a thrilling matchup against Miamisburg on Thursday night, ultimately securing a dramatic 4-1 victory over the Vikings in 10 innings. The entire team contributed to this hard-fought win, displaying their determination and skill on the field.

A special mention goes to Senior Ardyn Hopf for her outstanding catch in the bottom of the 9th inning, showcasing her athleticism and defensive prowess when it mattered most. Senior Hayley Arnold also played a pivotal role, pitching every pitch and striking out an impressive 16 batters throughout the game.

With this crucial win, the Varsity Softball team's season record now stands at an impressive 19 wins and 4 losses overall, with an 11-2 record in the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC). They are currently tied with Beavercreek for first place in the standings, setting the stage for an exciting finish to the season.

The Lady Elks are gearing up for another intense matchup tonight against Wayne, with the Varsity team hosting Wayne and the JV team traveling to Wayne. This game holds special significance as it is Senior Night for the Varsity players, providing an opportunity to honor and celebrate their contributions to the team over the years.

Both games are scheduled to start at 5 pm, offering fans a chance to witness high-level softball action and support their favorite players. The Varsity team has the added motivation of potentially clinching at least a tie for the GWOC Championship with a victory tonight, adding to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the game.
